The Magnesian Limestone Plateau is a wide area stretching from Jarrow and South Shields in the North, to Hartlepool in the South, and gradually narrowing towards Bishop Auckland in the West. The unique geology of this area has produce a distinctive landscape that is being celebrated through a Heritage Lottery Funded project, 'Limestone Landscapes'.
Amongst other things the Limestone Landscapes project is offering funding to support school visits within the Limestone Landscapes. Contact OASES for an application form to take your pupils to see the beauty of the Limestone Landscapes nature reserves, quarries, buildings, lime kilns and habitats.
