Meet the OASES Team:

Joanne Appleby

In her youth, Joanne worked as a 'Woolies Girl' and a waitress.  After completing a BSc (Hons) in Geography and an MSc in Environmental & Resource Assessment Joanne volunteered with the BTCV and went on expedition with Raleigh International.  Her first job involved engaging schools and community members with the many parks of Knowsley Council.  Wakefield was her next stop, working for Groundwork Wakefield as a Sustainability Education Officer.  From here she returned home, to Durham, to work for Groundwork East Durham as the School Grounds Co-ordinator for OASES.  Whilst at OASES Joanne has moved from Schools Grounds Co-ordinator to Education Programme Co-ordinator to Education Progamme Manager to OASES Manager to OASES CEO gathering many new qualifications and experiences along the way including LTL Professional Accreditation and Forest Schools Leader status.
