Harehope Quarry

OASES works with the Harehope Quarry Project to deliver outdoor learning within the picturesque Weardale Valley.

At Harehope there is a range of habitats and environments, which facilitate exciting delivery and fieldwork opportunities. These include woodland, limestone, grassland and wetland habitats (pond, river and wet woodland). The site is excellent for the study of rocks and fossils, Carboniferous geology and karst scenery.

Facilities include an outdoor classroom, dedicated Forest School area, (including cob oven) and coach parking. A small play area is available for use at lunchtime.

You can chose the curriculum content of your visit by selecting from our extensive range of sessions to Engage Pupils or have a visit tailor-made to your own requirements.
