OASES Active Learning- An Introduction to Delivering the Primary Curriculum Outdoors- One Awards Level 3 Accredited Course
This course is a One Awards accredited course delivered professionally by OASES. This unit introduces the concept of Active Learning and its benefits to learners. We will discuss the health and safety considerations that need to be made before taking learning outdoors and then we will try out a range of cross curricular activity ideas in our demonstration school grounds.
We have been running this course since 2015. Over the last 2 years we have been analysing the course participant portfolios for trends of impact. All of the course participants so far have documented that the resultant outdoor learning has been extremely useful and successful in engaging the disengaged.

This can be booked for your school as one and a half development days or as a series of twilight sessions.
Feedback from previous courses:
‘I was very pleased to see how engaged some of the reluctant children were in the activity. The response of the children was excellent during the activity, which could mainly be seen in the lack of behavioural issues. ..I definitely plan to continue taking my class outdoors for lessons.’ -Hartside Primary School
“This course has been invaluable in helping me to take learning outdoors. The enthusiasm the children have shown and the quality of the work they have produced has been wonderful. I definitely have the ‘outside learning’ bug and will continue to explore opportunities for learning outdoors in the future.”-
“Brilliant, inspirational course. Thank you!”- Jeni Gordon, Riverside Primary school
