OASES is currently working with partners to develop the following programmes:
We are looking for schools who are interested in learning about climate change and the importance of trees to mitigate against the worst effects. We are hoping to develop a project that will see children collect tree seeds to care for, ready to plant out on March 6th, when there will, hopefully, be a national tree plant for climate change event.
CAMPING FOR SCHOOLS
After recent discussions with head teachers there appears to be a apitate for camping within school grounds, but the associated kit costs are prohibitive. We are consequently looking to work together with a goup of schools that wish to camp within their school grounds, to develop a bid that will fund OASES to purchase, store and transport the equipment for schools to use.
HERITAGE SKILLS IN SCHOOLS
Following the successful 'Learning from the Land' project OASES is currently recruiting schools to get involved in a Heritage Lottery Bid to extend the initiative, enabling children to learn about traditional crafts and skills, from bodging to basket making. The pupils will also learn why these skills have declined in prominence yet remain important.
If you have an idea which links to outdoor learning or global sustainability education and you would like OASES to be involved please get in touch.
