Primary History Sessions

Stone Age Survival
Explore how Palaeolithic (old Stone Age) and Mesolithic (middle Stone Age) Stone Age people hunted and gathered to survive.  Have a go at knapping flint, experience how hard it is to create a flame, prepare your tribe for battle against another tribe and sample fish cooked on an open fire. Suitable for Key Stage 2. Curriculum links: History (changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age). Two OASES staff are required for fire based activities.

Roman Life and Lessons
Let your pupils experience what life was like for a Roman child.  They will learn their numerals through fun stick challenges, build a mini Hadrian's wall (complete with forts and turrets) and/or construct an aquaduct, create and sample a Roman pizza, learn about the games that Roman children played and much more. Suitable for Key Stage 2. Curriculum links: History (the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain). Two OASES staff are required to complete Roman Cooking activities.

Beach Session - Stone Age
Build mini stone villages, look at the importance of flint for Stone Age man and cook on an open fire.  Children can knapp their own flint tools and make a spark with a flint and steel. Suitable for Key Stage 2. Curriculum links: History (changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age). Two OASES staff are required to complete Stone Age cooking.
